Test Taking

Yesterday I had a biology test and I studied for weeks for this test. When I got the test in my hand, it was as though I was reading "Blackwatch" or "House of Leaves." I got an instant headache. Even though I felt completely prepared for the test, my mind became blank. If I were to have a conversation about the material covered, I would be able to carry it on. Every question looked like a never-ending corridor to me.

I was sailing for most of the test. I have tried taking classes for this problem and I still haven't overcome my fear, or my nervousness. One of my professors has actually addressed this issue, he asked me, "why is it that you can answer so many questions in class, but you are unable to pull off a perfect test?" The truth is I have a hard time with test taking even when I study my heart out. Actually, I do better when I just look over my notes prior to the test. I wish that I can find a solution for this.

Part of it

This novel is very interesting but it is also confusing. At one point you are sure of what the author is getting at and then you read on and become "mind-bubbled." I am definitely in stage of a migraine. I want to scream so loud but I am at work and can't scream. The book has me dizzy.

What are the odds that Katurian is the author of this novel? I am smirking about this right now. To be completely honest, I think after this class is completed I will read The House of Leaves again. Is there actually a play, a movie or something that I can go see to get on track? I feel as though I’m reading and not comprehending. The book has

I hope I’m not the only one feeling this way because I guess not only has it placed me in the maze but I feel what’s actually taking place in some of scenes. I guess that was the whole idea for the makeup of the whole thing.

Met-a-phor

Is the author actually speaking of a house? My opinion of the book thus far is that the house is a metaphor for change. The change of what will happen in the future. The characters in the novel all face reality when they are in the house. The shifting of a house would place anyone into the position for thought. Each time the house is shifted, the characters feel a sense of realism. They are faced by reality.

What is reasonable torture?

What do, we, as human beings consider reasonable torture to be? Sometimes we use the word to describe occurrences in our everyday lives. Is what we come across daily really torture? Torture is defined as mental or physical pain and suffering intentionally inflicted on a person for purposes as obtaining information, a confession, or punishing someone for an act they have committed or is suspected of committing.

There is a quote that says, “Two wrongs don’t make a right.” In my opinion, torturing someone to obtain information, for a confession or as punishment is immoral. It is not fear to the person or the family. Even if someone did commit a crime and the torture was for punishment, why would you want the family to go through the same torment? In most cases, the family of the victim prefers for the murderer to go to jail.

In the “Pillowman” Katurian was not guilty of committing any crimes that he was being accused of. His brother committed the crimes and he felt completely responsible for everything. His brother was tortured as a child and decided to the same to three little children. These were innocent children. What were his reasons for torturing them? Just as the officials feel its okay to torture him and his brother, he felt the need to do the same to the kids, innocent kids.

Torture is not justifiable. It is definitely negative and sends out negativity to the public. We should not feel that if something was done to us that we should do the same to someone else.

Torture

This play is very interesting. Funny I might say at some point but more hideous. How did the professor determine that he wanted to use this piece of literature? I am happy that he decided to shy clear the war stories. I feel much relieved.

The author did an excellent job of providing the audience with a play about life and art. The illustration he presented about a "pillowman" was important. Torturian family endured torture because the authorities wanted to attain information. What level do we see torture on? We as individuals may agree with torture, but the clear view of it is wrong. When an individual is tortured, do we actually know that a crime was committed.

Victory!

The victory is not just for President Obama but for the United States as a country. We can say we look forward to change. This change will allow the country to view everyone as an equal. As a candidate for presidency and now the United States President, President Obama has demonstrated that he supports United States regardless of our choices.

He not only showed that he is definitely aware of what the people want. We want change, we need the economy to be restored, we want our troops to come home to their families, and we need health care for the families that is unable to afford it. The ideal president is chosen by the people as to the concerns and needs of the nation. The people has spoken and decided that President Obama is the ideal President for the United States of America.

This is definitely an historical moment. Not only did the nation choose but the universe has showed there support as well. Everyone definitely may not have the same joy at heart, but we must come together as one. When two or more comes together in agreement there is fullness of joy. We have to support one another for the country to be repaired. We have to try to live by our word, our pledge, “one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.”

In a Zone

For the past couple of days I have been so sick from the flu, I am grateful that I can say I am recovered. The flu has kept me down from attending classes and work. I guess I can say I was in a zone. If its one time of the year I am guaranteed to be sick is at a time like this.

It may start with not dressing appropriate for the weather. The main trigger is when others have the flu and are not appropriately caring for their colds. They do not cover their mouth when they cough. A sneeze is splashed across the room. Everyone becomes exposed. What did it for me was sharing a computer with the sick individual. I was already weakened by not being prepared for the change in the weather, and not dressing appropriately.

I am just glad that even though I still have a cough, I have recovered and will be able attend to my daily activities. I am definitely not looking forward to getting sick again. I can breath again, I can smile, I have a voice, and I can stand strong and stay aware. I am no longer in a zone.
